The scuttlebutt in Spain today is that Tour de France leader, Alberto Contador, is in negotiations to ride for the American team of Garmin-Slipstream next year. Garmin chief Jonathan Vaughters would not confirm rumors his team was hoping to hire the Tour de France leader. Contador is also linked with a possible new Spanish cycling team to be set-up by his countryman two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso with the support of his Renault F1 team.
